London Magician Blown Out

Strange weekend. Started on the Friday with a Close Up Magic Show for someone whose daughter goes to Streatham & Clapham High School. The show was in their house and was a mixture of ages - from teenagers to adults. They all really got involved and the teenagers kept on standing up for me and applauding me, after I had finished, every time I brought my Magic Gear out to the car.

On the Saturday I had a Magic Show for a 4yr old whose Birthday I had done a year before. It was slightly Deja Vu experience but luckily I had lots of other Magic things he hadn't seen before. Including Chico the Mind Reading Chimp which they loved - however not quite a much as the rabbit.

On Sunday I was meant to do a Magic Close Up Show along the Old Kent Road (SE1) for a 10yr old - however they never sent the details and every time I called the mobile number it went through to messages. Left numerous messages and texts but never heard anything back. Got ready in case I got a call saying "Where are you" but that never came either. At present a complete mystery and a complete pain. Had turned other jobs down and had to organise childcare for the kids as my wife was busy with other things, so all in all it cost me dear. Am still waiting to find out what happened - very strange.

London Magician Parking & Traffic

On Saturday I started the day in Central London in Kensington (W8). Traffic was fine going there until I got to Hyde Park where there was some kind of demonstration at Marble Arch at speakers corner. Having got through that and arrived on time the parking around the Leisure Centre was choca block. After waiting about 10 minutes I found a place but had to lug my gear further than I wanted. The Magic Show was for a children's birthday party and the birthday girl was the soul of the party. It's always great when it's like this and she really led the way. Got a text afterwards which said "Thanks for making Yara's party so special. You were truly magical."

I then had an hour to get to Streatham which I thought was more than enough time but got held up at Wandsworth (along Trinity Road) going into Tooting. I thought I was there when I got to the end of Tooting Common but the party was the other end of Streatham (SW16) so arrived on time but with none to spare. Again a great success for another children's party and was asked for about 10 business cards after the show which bodes well.

On Sunday I did a Close Up Magic Show in Wandsworth (SW15) for a group of teenagers. Getting there was a disaster - gave up on Trinity Road and went down to Garrett Lane (also blocked). Went back up to Trinty and crawled through Wandsworth, which has all been dug up due to Gas Works. When I got to the venue, again I had issues with parking and had to lug all my Magic props up the street. The teenagers were great and loved the show - screaming in all the right places especially when the knife when through my arm!!

Magician London is no longer a face (dog walker) in the Park

Every school day for the past few years after dropping the children off at school, I've taken the dogs for a walk in Norwood Park. Everyday I've seen the same Mums and Dads walking their children to various schools in the area.

On Wednesday someone I've said "Hello" to almost everyday stopped me and said her daughter who had been with her had been to a party recently where I had been entertaining. She said her daughter must have told her over a hundred times, magic tricks in the show and one particular Magic Trick which brought tears to her eyes, every time she retold it. She thanked me for making the party really funny and for moving her daughter so much.

Made me think afterwards that many times we see people on a daily basis but really don't know who they are, what they do and really they are just another face in the crowd. With this girl I'm no longer that and every time I see her, see starts smiling and laughing as she remembers her favourite magic trick. Am glad that I'm also I'm seen as a Magician in London rather than another face in the park, walking my dogs.
